The Dr Free Gift, BOGO Buy X Get Y app’s compatibility with Express Checkout varies depending on where the checkout buttons appear and which service is being used.
Checkout Page Express Options
All Express Checkout options on the main Checkout page are fully supported and work correctly with gift goals.
Cart/Drawer Cart Express Options
Various express checkout options in the cart or drawer cart may have limitations depending on the specific payment provider. These limitations can affect how discounts are handled and how gift eligibility is processed.
Recommended Solution
To ensure the most reliable gift goal operation, we recommend:
- Disable Express Checkout options in the cart/drawer cart
- This will automatically move these payment options to the first page of Checkout
- Note: There may be a brief cache period before the options appear in Checkout
This configuration ensures all Express Checkout options work correctly with gift goals while maintaining a smooth customer experience.
Important Notes
- Gift removal during checkout is not possible due to Shopify’s checkout architecture
- Express Checkout button behavior cannot be modified by third-party apps
- The app’s draft order functionality only works with standard checkout flow
