If your Shopify store’s Dr Free Gift, BOGO Buy X Get Y app is impacting the available shipping methods on the checkout page, it’s likely related to how the app creates the free gift as a new product in your store. Here’s an explanation and a guide to how you can resolve the issue:

What Causes This Issue?

When you select a product as a free gift, our app duplicates the original product to create the free gift. While most properties of the original product are duplicated, certain special connections, like shipping profile assignments, are not automatically carried over.

If your shipping profiles in Shopify are configured to filter products by specific criteria (e.g., product tags, collections, or manually added products), the duplicated gift product may not belong to the same shipping profile as the other items in the cart.

This mismatch can cause Shopify to limit the available shipping rates to only those that apply to all products in the cart. The same issue can occur if you use a 3rd-party app to define custom shipping rates per product.

How to Fix It?

  1. Go to your Shopify Admin Panel.
  2. Navigate to Settings > Shipping and Delivery.
  3. Locate the shipping profile(s) that apply to the rest of your store’s products.
  4. Add the duplicated free gift product created by our app to the relevant shipping profile(s).
