Why didn’t I receive a gift for the orders that I should have?
If you placed an order that met the Dr Free Gift, BOGO Buy X Get Y app’s gift qualification requirements but didn’t receive the expected gift, there are several potential causes to investigate:
Gift Product Status Issues
The most common reasons for missing gifts relate to the gift product’s status in Shopify:
- Stock Availability
- Check if the gift product was out of stock when you placed your order
- The system cannot award gifts that aren’t available in inventory
- Product Status
- Verify the gift product’s status in Shopify Products admin
- The product must be set to “Active” – other statuses like Draft or Archived will prevent gift awards
- Make sure the gift product isn’t unpublished from the “Online Store” sales channel – this will prevent gifts from being awarded
Prevention
To avoid gift award issues:
- Maintain adequate gift inventory
- Keep gift products in “Active” status
- Monitor gift product settings regularly
